Ahhh,sweet old times...1998...12 years ago.(I was 13 years old!)

I remember myself trying a demo of the first Starcraft,that came with another Blizzard game...

"-Uh? Starcraft? Sounds like Warcraft,but from the future...Meh! I bet its as boring as Warcraft."

I wasn't a fan of trying demos,really,let alone RTS games...
But...something told me this one was going to be different.

So I installed it,double-clicked the Starcraft demo icon...

And my gamer life changed forever.

For the first time ever,I enjoyed to play an RTS game!!.
And to this day,its the ONLY RTS game I like! Any other RTS bores me to death!

And the futuristic mood helped a lot!...I loved the little soldiers,ships,and especially the robots! I drooled when I saw the "Goliath" unit for the first time.

I officialy became an avid Starcraft fan.We played along with my school friends on LAN,and talked a lot about the game.

And so,one night,I finished the game,then got me the "Brood wars expansion",then finished it too...and there were rumors about a sequel already!

I was so excited! I tried to imagine how a sequel would look like,with new,3D units,flashy effects,that mysterious Zerg/Protoss hybrid we never get to see on the secret Brood wars mission!

Year after year,waiting...

But the sequel never came.
And the flame started to fade...to the point I forgot about Starcraft completely.

But one day...more precisely,on July 28 of this year...

I was on my way back home,when a blue box on a shelf,in a videogames store,with a familiar face,caught my attention.

As I approached the shelf,the number "II" on the front started to give me the chills.

And BAM! I stood still,looking at it,and with a HUGE grin on my face.

THERE IT WAS! THE SEQUEL I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR YEARS!!
The avid fan returned that night!

It took me less than a second to decide to enter the store,take out my debit card,and leave with the game on my bag.

...

Tonight,I finished this sequel.25 missions played.
(HUGE cliffhanger,btw!)

Was it as good as the first one,or even better? was it the sequel,with everything I dreamed off?

Yes,yes it was.I couldn't expect less from Blizzard.

The game is EVERYTHING I dreamed off!!.

HECK! they even added a GIANT robot unit for the Terrans! (a second dream came true with that,btw )
And the Zerg/Protoss hybrid is finally shown...and its a very powerful unit.
(But what happened to Samir Duran anyway? )

Also,missions are not the repetitive "build base-units-destroy enemy base" kind of the first Starcraft,but they are much more versatile.
(for example,there's a mission where you only control a Terran Ghost,and have to get through all the enemy bases by yourself,in stealth mode.)

So,in conclusion,the game is kinda expensive...but its worth every single penny.

Now,I cant wait for "Heart of the swarm",the next expansion...Im so gonna get the bundled version,just to have the box!.
(I have the original Starcraft and Brood wars boxes,so I might as well get the full collection )

If you love/loved Starcraft,but you are not so sure about the sequel,I can tell you...you wont regret buying it.



(And that's the reason of why I've gone missing from DA this last days )
